How do I straighten thick poofy hair? Will it stay straight the whole day?

It will take a while but this works. I have very curly kinky hair and I do this every 4 days. Wash and use a good conditioner, Use a LARGE round metal brush (the metal gets hot and makes the hair straighter) Blow-dry the hair section by section until smooth. When finished, use a flat iron spray such as rusk thermal str8 or soya want flat hair by the sexy collection (these are the best) and spray small sections of the hair and immediately go over it with the flat iron. use a good ceramic iron (I use rusk) but hot tools will do. All you need is patience. It works! If you have any other questions . You need a lot of patience for the first few times, but you will get the hang of it.

Buy a ceramic straightener. They really work. Walmart now sells them. Good luck!

There are 2 ways.

#1You can iron it. Lay your head down on the ironing board and have someone run the irond own the length of your hair(make sure the iron isn't too hot or keep it on too long to burn your hair.)This was how the girls got their straight hair in the 1960's

#2 you can put permanent wave solution on your hair and just com through straight and leave it on the minutes it says for the curled hair. You can either do it with a home ern or have a beautition do it.

I have thick hair too. I just use a really good conditioner, then blow dry it and use a ceramic straightener.

get it chemically straightened and then it will help. use a strightening iron and your hair will stay striaght from when you do it until you wash it .

I have thick, frizzy curly hair, and I wear my hair straight everyday. What I do is I wash my hair with a shampoo which helps to tame your frizz. Then when I get out of the shower I towelk dry my hair a little bit (not too much) and then I use a straightening balm called "Str8" by a brand called Rusk. (you can find it at Target, and I have tried them all, and this one is the absolute BEST). I use about a quarter size and use my hands to comb it through. But I never put in on the top of my hair (makes it look too greasy). Then I get a flat brush, and a round brush. I comb the straightening balm through my hair, and then take the round brush to comb it back into a low bun. I brush it to the point where its stuck to my head and really tight and straight when I pull it back, making sure there are no lumps. Then I let it air dry in the bun for about 30 mins - 1 hour. This allows the upper part of your hair that was pulled tight against your hair to some what dry already pretty flat and straight. And then blow dry the rest in sections using both the round brush and the flat brush. I notice with my hair if I just jump right out of the shower and go straight to putting the balm on my hair and blow drying, it is still way too frizzy! This way helps so much!

Then after I am done blowdrying, I use my ceramic flat iron and flat iron all of my hair in small sections. Don't use a cheap, non-ceramic flat iron. You will waste your money and ruin your beautiful hair!! Its worth it to spend a little bit more money on a good ceramic flat iron. You can find a great one at a local beauty supply store. Then to finish off my hair after using the flat iron, I use a hair serum called "biosilk" you can also find that at target. I use just a tiny bit and rub it between my hands and use my hands to comb it through my hair. Helps to make it look shiny, smooth, and finished :)

I know my way sounds like such a process, but it really isn't! Once you get in the routine, you will see what a breeze it is to style your hair straight!!! I have done it this way for years and my hair remains straight all day! I love it! I hope I helped you out! Good luck!!!
