Should I start straightening my hair?

Hi, i'm 14 and I have sort of a straight hair but it get frizzy. I wanna try using a flat iron/straightener to make the ends flip out. Yes, i have layers.

What products should I use for protecting my hair from heat? I don't have a lot of money on me, because i have to use the money i got from working at my mom's which is not much. So please suggest stuff that i can easily find and is affordable.

I'm planning to use the conair ceramic flat iron. I use the volumizing shampoo and conditioner from herbal essences. Right now, I don't use any products on my hair. I just really want the ends of my hair to flip out because it looks real nice.

I use finesse mousse (cheap) on damp hair, blow dry it straight with a flat brush, then use a flat iron (don't hesitate or pause, just draw it straight down and flip out with your wrist so you don't burn your hair). The finesse mousse stops the frizzies, then I rub a wax or pomade into my palms, dab at the palm with just my fingertips and stroke the ends of the flips. The key is to just have hardly any wax on your fingers because a little goes a long way. I switch waxes all the time since they all seem to define the edges the same, so find one in your budget, it lasts a long time since you hardly use any. Both of these should be available at the same place you got your iron. Good luck!

When I straighten my hair, I use Paul Mitchell's Seal and Shine. A small bottle cost about $6, and it lasts a long time. It protects your hair from the heat of the straightening iron, and also makes it shiny and smooth.
