I straighten my hair after I blow dry it straight because it decreases the "poofiness"/thickness of my hair.

I don't think you should do it because you hear other people doing it, especially since it seems like you don't have a particular purpose.

Uh, if your hair is already straight, there is no point in straightening it. But it does make it look more put together, sleek, and shiny.

your lucky you already have naturally straight hair.. the only think it will do is fry and damage your already beautifully straight hair!!

unless it has waves in it, it won't do anything really..

if your looking for a change, why don't you try a curling iron? or flipping your hair?!!?!?! that would be sooooo cute!

..if you want the soft, sleek look..blow dry straight and use a straightening cream after and run your fingers through it.

a lot of people do it if they're going out or whatever (sometimes even straight hair will get fly aways and messy if your out dancing!) but I wouldn't suggest using it on a daily basis and saving it for going out because it will really dry out your hair

if your thinking of buying one I suggest a professional cremaric straightener that you can get at salons and using it on a very low setting to minimize damage

Using an iron on straight hair will help control poofiness and make it more sleek/shiny. I have naturally wavy hair, so I blow dry it straight after I shower. Even though it's already straight after that, I still use the straightener to make my hair look thinner and sleeker. I use the Chi straightening iron, and it works awesome.
