Is it obvious when someone who has curly hair straightens it and leaves it like that for about a week?
It feels embarrassing, because most people know that you didn't wash your hair in a long time.
I'm really bad at straightening hair myself, so it feels like a waste of money and time to go to a hair stylist for it all and then wash it soon after.

If most women were to be honest they feel the same way. I have SUPER curly hair and used to go to the salon every week to have to done, until I learned how to do it well at home. (Thanks to my stylist) When I do it now, I will skip washing my hair for 3-5 days, depending how well it stays straight (due to weather, sweat ect.). Before I started straighting my hair, I oly washed it abot every three days anyways because it would get so dry if I did it every day. My stylist told me that it was ok for people with curly/frizzy or think hair because washing every day can dry your hair out and cause severe split ends! So keep on doing your thing and don't wash every day, just know you are not alone!..*lol*

Just keep your hair fresh. Try sprinkling some baby powder in your hair in the morning and combing it through. That will help absorb some of the oils your hair produces. I don't know if you'd want to wait a week before washing your hair, it will get pretty gross, but a few days would be fine.

Ugh. I can't imagine going a week without washing my hair. It's probably obvious to other people that your hair is greasy and dirty :/ Try a different kind of straightener. The Remington Wet2Straight is actually a really good straightener for the price -- $30 at Walmart or Target. It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to straighten your hair but after a while it'll be a breeze. Just do small sections at a time, go over them very slowly with the straightener and keep going over it until it's perfectly straight. Just make sure you condition your hair -- and consider buying a leave in conditioner or deep conditioning treatment, because heat damage is terrible for your hair.

I don't leave it a week. Usually a couple of days if I haven't been too active. However I have been known to straighten it every day but I do so myself. What you need is to learn to do it yourself. It just takes practice. I use a styling dryer to dry it straight - this keeps me from having to use a regular dryer in one hand and a brush in the other. Then, once it's dry, I'll either use a flat iron and some biosilk serum or a two and a half inch barrel iron to give it body instead of flat. You also have to use an anti-humidity product. KMS has an excellent spray (it's in a small can, white and purple) to prevent it frizzing up. Good luck!

I ALSO HAVE CURLY HAIR...HOW ABOUT USING A CURLING IRON TO STRAIGHTEND UR HAIR...IT WORKS REALLY GOOD.THERES THIS PRODUCT @ WALMART IT CALLED TIMELESS ITS LIKE A RELAXINT...EXEPT IT DOESNT DAMAGE UR HAIR LIKE A RELAXINT...YOU WASH YOU HAIR AND THE PRODUCT ON UR HAIR AND YOJU STRAIGHTEN UR HAND THEN YOU HAVE TO KEEP UR HAIR DRY FOR A WHOLE DAY...THEN YOU CAN WASH UR HAIR AND IT WOULD KEEP UR HAIR STRAIGHT FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 WEEKS.

If your hair looks clean...dont worry about it..people will just think you straighten it daily. I love my hair after it has been staightened. its not good to wash hair to frequently anyway unless you have oily hair...I have dry hair and wash it twice a week...just use a shoer cap when u shower so you dont get it wet.

No if i spend a lot of time getting my hair perfectly straight i wont wash it the next day but some tips on doing it yourself are
first get a good iron..one with ceramic plates rather then just metal plates
second..spend some time in the hair product section of walgreens..look for something that is for straightening hair or you can ask someone at a salon which product will be best for your hair
third..when it comes time to the actual straightening of your hair..part your hair..my hair is really really thick so i put a bunch of like 4 inch ponytails in my hair and i start in the back for the straightening
fourth..doing one section at a time..take about an inch or an inch and a half..comb it and slowly run your straightener thru your hair...repeat until its all straightened
try not to brush it afterwards cuz it can frizz it..but put run your fingers thru your hair ..put on some of the hair product and you should have nicely straight hair
