Hair straightners not straightening my hair!?

I recently bought the Babyliss hair straightners. I have really fluffy and wavy hair, I tried straightning it for the first time with dry hair, but nothing happened and it was still the same, curly and extremely dry. What am I doing wrong here? I put the heat on 190 but it still doesn't work and I'm a bit worried because I want it to work, I can't return it once it's used.

Try using a heat activated styling product at the same time. I had much the same problem and have found tres emme 'Iron Style and Hold' really good. Its a spray so it slightly moistens your hair, you can then comb in through and when you straighten it it actually holds it straight (and it lasts all day - before I could spend 20mins straightening my hair only for it to be frizzy again an hour later!)

Give it a try, I hope it works for you as well.

You could always put your hair under something very heavy like a big box and leave it there for an hour or so with a good book..

if its not do anything ata ll there could be something wrong with it...i would buy a chi iron they r amazing and will get your hair straight forsure

I am sorry that one isn't working for you, you probably are like me and need one with a higher heat setting this one goes to I think 450 degrees it is what I use and it works great.

Try using a product before trying to style that will protect the hair shaft..then set the styler on MEDIUM!! Work down the hair shaft from the scalp..go gently and slowwwwwly!! You may be going way to fast..You could also go to a salon to ask if they might show you how to use it properly..go to a salon that u have been to and had good results from..if u are a regular they won't charge..good luck

i have realllllly curly hair and i can get it pin strait my secret is i put moose in my hair before i dry it then dry it strait and then straiten it good luck!

You must use a glossing spray or serum before you straighten it dont use alot

ok if you are buying your hair straighteners from a drug store for under $100 then stop because i used to have the same problem. i tried every brand and nothing worked...you need to go to a salon and get this hair straightener called a CHI. its between $150-$230 but trust me its worth it. if your scared that it wont work just tell one of the stylist and ask if she can try it out on your hair first because they use that brand in the salon on there customers and they should do it without a problem or ask if you able to return it if it doesn't work for you and they shouldn't have a problem with that either as long as you have the packaging and reciept.

Are you straightening your hair a layer at a time? If not it won't straighten. [I don't mean to make you sound like you don't know what you're doing]. If you are straightening your hair layer by layer then maybe you need to use de-frizz/straightening products before you straighten your hair.

I have exactly the same problem! my hair is sooo thick I and curly that I neveer thought it would be possible to straighten it!

Here's what I do...After you have washed your hair comb it through to get the knots out then smooth through some extra strong john freeda frizz eaze hair serum (its expensive but it really works and you only need a small amount) dry your hair with hairdryer till its 90% dry then section off your hair and straighten one bit at a time, if that doesnt work I would speak to your hairdresser.

i have puffy, really puffy hair and really curly, so i use Paul Brown, Hawaii, and it works great, i used to have a babyliss, and you have to put it on at a high degree, for hair like puffy and curly, my straightner is at 410 usually, but i use products to keep them from damaging, and once a week i let my hair in condionner for like 3hours, and even when i have really curly hair, it still straights it, but i have to pass again like 3-4times, so try putting the heat higher, and trying more then once, and dont take to much hair, but, im sure you already know that...so ya just the heat, and more products, like pommade.

ok well i have very curly hair as well and if you brush it out its like and afro,,but i straighten my hair from time to time,,and when you straigthen your hair you are going to have to do it in a lot of layers, so put it up in to a ponytail all but a little then straighten that then bring more down until done could take alwhile but trust me that how i get my hair to look like its natural straight. and if you can get a wet to straight they are on like $30 dollars and they work really good because 190 degrees might not be enough for your hair

I have really curly hair and use a basic straightener from Conair that was $19.72 at Target and it works like a dream. It's got thick plates and heats up quickly. It used to take me 1.5 hours to straighten my hair (thick, long and very curly), now with this one it takes about 20 minutes tops.

Just chalk that one you have now up as a loss and get the better one.

Also, I used to have a Wet 2 Straight and it was HORRIBLE! I used it once and it broke, because the swivel cord kept shorting out. I returned it and they gave me a new one and that one broke too. It didn't heat up very well either, probably why it took me about an hour and a half to straighten it then.

Well, 190 isn't really that hot. I have the same kind of hair and my straightener gets up to 374. Don't worry though, just start with the hair underneath, it affects how the hair on top looks. Grab one small strand at a time and run the straightener, VERY slowly down each strand. Mess around with hair dryers, typically I blow dry my hair down. I'm assuming yours is thick and if you blow dry it, it turns into a puffball. Don't worry, just get a hairclip to hold up all the hair you haven't straightened yet. You might have to go over spots more than once, but I promise it will eventually work. If it's thick, try getting more layers to help it lay better. I've been doing this for four years...eventually you get the technique down. Good luck.

I would invest in a pair of GHD straightners, they're actually amazing! They cost around 鎷?00 but im sure you could source them for alot cheaper online. They heat up to a far higher temperature than any other straightners and you can also use them to curl you hair

They also have a range of products to protect your hair from the heat and stop it frizzing. Alternatively you could use John Freida's Frizz Ease hair products which also work very well

you need to do your hair in small pieces and go very slowly. dont just put the straightener down your hair , hold it tightly and very very slowly work your way down the length of hair. this should work. also if you get it somewhat straight with the hairdryer beforehand it will make it alot easier. hope that helps

Hair straightners not straightening my hair!?

I have this problem! I have the GHD straightners and I still struggle. I have found the following works a treat!

Wash your hair with tresemme vitamin E moisture rich shampoo.

Put a large amount of conditioner on your hair and comb through, leave it for at least 5 minutes then rinse really well, only put the conditioner on the actual hair, not the roots or scalp.

Towel dry your hair then spray all over with the tresemme heat defence styling spray, comb through then tie your hair back in a low pony tail and leave it to dry naturally.

Wait until your hair is completely dry, then start at the back and bunch your hair into small sections no more than an inch thick and about half the width of your irons. slowly from root to tip drag your irons down your hair. I usually have to go over the same section at least two or three times before moving onto the next. I usually wash and treat my hair the day before I want to straighten it and i find that my hair can stay straight and looking nice for up to a week doing it this way. Don't be tempted to striaghten your hair to often, it will cause it all to break off and you will have to cut it really short! Good luck and have fun xx

p.s ALWAYS use a protective balm on your hair when using straightners

Hair straightners not straightening my hair!?

my hair is same as yours try straightening it by sectioning your hair, bit by bit and take time on it. For finishing touch just apply some hair serum on the ends of you hair
