What is the best straightening iron for really realy curly hair?

maxi glide hair straightner....its expensive (about $140 s%26amp;h included) but it works on ANY type of hair. i use it and i love it ! the straightner is big, so you can straighten larger amounts of hair. maxi glide comes with a mini touch-up straightener and two products (anti-frizz %26amp; straighten/shine).

What is the best straightening iron for really realy curly hair?

Just use the chi but a thin one not a thick one I use it all the time with my customers and it works perfectly but make sure you use some heat protection.

What is the best straightening iron for really realy curly hair?

I got a really good straightening iron at Wal Mart for $15-brand is Andis.

I've used it on a lot of people with very curly hair and it got it really straight and stayed straight overnight.

You could also try different hair products that help to keep the frizz down and keep the style. (shampoos and conditioners also)

You could also try blow-drying your hair

How do i keep my hair straightened without using a hair straightener?

i have long hair that is really wavy and curly if i dont straighten it...however i have a hard time straightening it by myself...and it takes a long time and i dont have enough time to straighten it before i go to school. is there any products i can use that will keep my hair straight after i dry it? its also really frizzy.

How do i keep my hair straightened without using a hair straightener?

Other than chemical straighteners and blow drying, try Silk Therapy. You will still have to use a blow-dryer, but this product protects hair and adds a conditioning agent to help relax the hair. It works on very course hair and leaves a fabulous shine. You could even dry your hair and then use a chi iron. Your hair will look fab and be protected from humidity!

How do i keep my hair straightened without using a hair straightener?

How do i keep my hair straightened without using a hair straightener?

Whats a good straightening Lotion for african american hair?

I read in Seventeen that you can turn coarse african american hair into super sleek straight hair. It says that you use a ceramic straightener (which I have) and a special straightening lotion. What one should I use to get super sleek smooth hair, and can you tell me what it does?

Whats a good straightening Lotion for african american hair?

well motions is a good one but my favorite is called breakthru. It protects your hair from the heat and makes it really straight. But if you have really coarse hair you should blow dry it then straighten it to get the best results.

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

will using a straightening iron on already naturally straight hair change anything???

i heard that some people do that... i am planning to too.

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

well yeah just make it shinier and more sleek. but if its already straight why worry yourself.

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

I dont think there really is a point. It can dry out your hair BADLY

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

I straighten my hair after I blow dry it straight because it decreases the "poofiness"/thickness of my hair.

I don't think you should do it because you hear other people doing it, especially since it seems like you don't have a particular purpose.

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

use the chi..

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

Uh, if your hair is already straight, there is no point in straightening it. But it does make it look more put together, sleek, and shiny.

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

your lucky you already have naturally straight hair.. the only think it will do is fry and damage your already beautifully straight hair!!

unless it has waves in it, it won't do anything really..

if your looking for a change, why don't you try a curling iron? or flipping your hair?!!?!?! that would be sooooo cute!

x

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

i think you will just end up ruining your already straight hair!

..if you want the soft, sleek look..blow dry straight and use a straightening cream after and run your fingers through it.

good luck!

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

a lot of people do it if they're going out or whatever (sometimes even straight hair will get fly aways and messy if your out dancing!) but I wouldn't suggest using it on a daily basis and saving it for going out because it will really dry out your hair

if your thinking of buying one I suggest a professional cremaric straightener that you can get at salons and using it on a very low setting to minimize damage

Straightening Iron for already straight hair???

Using an iron on straight hair will help control poofiness and make it more sleek/shiny. I have naturally wavy hair, so I blow dry it straight after I shower. Even though it's already straight after that, I still use the straightener to make my hair look thinner and sleeker. I use the Chi straightening iron, and it works awesome. Its a little pricy, but I've been using it for over 5 years and i don't know what I'd do without it. If you're going to use a straightener, I would highly recommend buying some frizz control for your hair and run it through your hair before you straighten it. It will help your hair from frizzing, and it will also help protect your hair in the long-run. I recommend CHI Silk Serum, it works great.

Straightening perm on white girl hair?

I have naturally wavey hair and I was wondering if I could get a straightening perm on it without totally frying it.

Straightening perm on white girl hair?

There is a process called thermal straightening. It uses chemicals along with an iron to get hair really straight. It can be damaging though. Go to a good salon and get a consultation. It should not be used on damaged hair.

Straightening perm on white girl hair?

If you are referring to a "relaxer" I think that you should check with a stylist first. I do know that a lot of my hispanic friends use relaxers on their hair and it works fine for them.

However, ask someone before you become bald, mmkay.

Straightening perm on white girl hair?

it would fry it and your hair would fall out...how do i know? i used one and i am white and my hair just fell off about half way up the hair strand...their is a solution from Joico salons called EFX its for white people its a theo gel..that would loosen ur curl possibly make ur hair straight and it would NOT fall out....i am in school for cosmetology at a Joico salon

Straightening perm on white girl hair?

probably not but there has this thing called the YUKO straightening system that keeps your hair straight for like a year but it's expensive and doesn't work on afro hair but it works well on all other hair check out this site it explains it better than i can

How long do you recommned I go without straightening my hair?

I've been straightening it for a really long time with little of a break in between.

How long do I have to keep it natural for it to be completely healthy again?

How long do you recommned I go without straightening my hair?

get a perm

How long do you recommned I go without straightening my hair?

I try to wear mine curly or up maybe after three times of consecutive straightening. I get complimented all the time about how shiny and healthy my hair looks.

How long do you recommned I go without straightening my hair?

How about the rest of your life? There's no need to straighten your hair, any more than than there's a need to flatten your nose, change your skin color or have your eyebrows removed. Try being yourself the way you were made - you might find it more comfortable --- and the opposite sex might just find it more attractive.

How long do you recommned I go without straightening my hair?

If you like straightened hair maybe just do it once a week so don't do it day after day

How To Straighten Damaged Hair?

I just used this hair-straightening treatement, and it didn't work. Now my hair is just really curly, frizzy, and a mess =[ I need to know how to straighten it without damaging it.

Help?

How To Straighten Damaged Hair?

I also had a bad result from a professional straightner, they never work for me. My first bit of advice is to get a trim, nothing major, but try to trim the damaged ends off (make sure it is done by a pro, cutting it yourself can only make it worse). Actually, as soon as you can, use an intensive moisturizing treatment on your hair. They have split ends treatments out there too, I know Tresemme used to make one and I heard wonderful things about it.

Now, the best thing is to let your hair heal. The more you do to it, the longer it will take. If you insist on straightening your still, get a wet to straight straightner so you cut out blow drying. Make sure it has ceramic plates and that it mentions less damage. I have a Remington, and it cost $30, it is nice.

Hope this helps!

How To Straighten Damaged Hair?

well, i had it done, and i do have some minimal dammage... well, just really really deep condition ALOT and when you straighten your hair, use a brush and up it directly below your straightner.. OH and since you have curly hair, straighten in layers

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

sss

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

I know for perms it is 48 hours, so I would guess the same amount of time for straightening since they are using about the same chemicals.

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

3 hours 5 minutes and 51 seconds.

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

24 hours i guss

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

If you have chemically straighted your hair, I would wait at least 48 hours. The chemicals would be deactivated if shampooed before then. If you feel like your hair needs washed before then, just brush some baby powder through your hair, it will soak up any oils on your scalp and in your hair that may make it appear greasy or dirty.

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

You should wait at least 48 hours or more for best results if chemically straightened. If you're using a flat iron and doing it yourself, then you can wash your hair any time you want.

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

Depends on the person. Naturally oil will build up, so i guess it really depends on how you feel when your hair gets that way. I have naturally curly hair, so when I would spend an hour or so straightening it it was going to stay straight for awhile. I don't think i went more than 4 days though. I think that's my limit. I don't like my hair to feel oily and look weighted down.

So ultimately, just see how long you can go. Hope this helps.

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

Same as a perm - 48 hours or so

How long does it have to be until you can wash your hair after straightening it?

Controlling split ends..i think its from straightening my hair? can you help me?

I've been straighening my hair for a long time now and i get split ends. what can i do to stop that?

Controlling split ends..i think its from straightening my hair? can you help me?

The answer may come as a shock, but trimming regularly (approximately 6-8 weeks between cuts) is a must for straight hair. Going to a salon to ask for an inch or half an inch off isn't as drastic as cutting a lot off in the end if you do not cut the split ends. And also, your hair will be a lot more manageable once you cut off the split ends.

Do you ever notice that your hair is a lot more able to curl or style after you cut the split ends? That's because the follicles in your hair at the ends are dead and they cannot be styled because the hair is no longer at its vibrancy.

A way to prevent split ends is to do the following:

1. Don't use hot products, like a blow-dryer or flat iron. It causes the hair to break and snap, causing split ends.

2. Don't brush a lot, as the friction causes split ends to appear, and makes your hair frizzy without all of the broken ends.

3. Trim your hair regularly at a salon you trust; get the split ends trimmed off, depending on how much, in 1 inch or less. You will notice a severe difference afterwards with silky hair that is manageable.

4. Stop straightening your hair. Or just do it once a week.

Know this: There is NO way to prevent split ends, but there IS a way to make them less manageable.

Try deep conditioning your hair once a week to manage the appearance of split ends inbetween cuts, but know that it will not cause them to go away without trimming.

Hope this helps. :)

Controlling split ends..i think its from straightening my hair? can you help me?

TRIM!

Trim your hair regularly and brush it softly and carefully!

Everyone gets split ends, but make sure you trim atleast every month!

And use a ceramic straightener if you don't already.

Also, when you shower, condition the ends of your hair, and never your scalp. Your scalp is the part that gets all the natural conditioning oils of your hair anyway and the ends are the ones who need attention!

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

I have seen blonde hair aboriginals in AUstralia that were natural. Black albinos have blonde hair. Hey racists- Asian people have straight hair. So do Indians which are the ancestors of many blacks. Just a question/thought. I just have heard that everywhere and It is annoying

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

i know it's annoying my hair is always straight but whites always be like do you straighten your hair everyday i mean you don't have to ask so much it's just hair

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

no ....Whites copy blacks 100 times more

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

its fine if they are born that way, but changing it yourself is a different story. Its a fact that people do it for that reason in certain countries. look it up.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

whoever you heard say that is full of it!!

Why worry about stuff like that?

It takes your focus off Jesus.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

I can tell you are very intelligent by the way I don't understand your question. It seems senseless to me, it is going right over my head. I am in awe of your genius.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

look at micheal jackson.... i prefer go with the natural way i hate plastic people....... like copy cats

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

everybody says this?..so that includes you too...right?

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

well pretty much there is only black and white. You are either dark or light skin. Asians, anglos, hispanics, all are white, black black and black people are all black. SO when a black person tries to straighten thier hair, you could take it as trying to have the hair of any of the whites, which are asians, hispanics, anglos, Also painting it blond would be the same idea. But who cares people have the right to do whateer they want to thier hair. No one should judge. Alot of whites are getting corn rolls and its kinda stupid, look at the idiot Justin Timberlake or the gay on from backstreet boys, they try to be all black, and everyone judges them too. People will always talk even though they shouldnt. They like to keep people where they are suppose to be and its wrong.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

can you answer why white woman wants to perm their hair have it curly....why the inject solutions in their lips why the spend ours on the beach or the tan camara to be darker ..........and we black people are not saying any word

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

I am afraid that idea came from African Americans themselves. In the 40's, 50's the black artists started conching or straightening their hair to look like the white singers and to give themselves more of a crossover appeal to the white audience. There were a lot of groups that took offense to the idea because they felt that we should not want to emulate someone that oppresses us. I personally dont have self hatred. i just want to be able to manage my hair better, and everyone does not have the right shaped head for the braided look.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

Does everyone say that?? And you've heard it everywhere?? Gee. I musta missed something. And as long as I've been alive? God Bless you.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

Black hair...no matter where they are from...is kinky. There is so much mixed blood amongst the "aboriginals" that blonde and red hair are to be expected, however they don't choose to do that.

Some people believe that the "european-ization" of the Blacks of america is the cause for the straighting of their hair and dying their hair blonde.

Now, it's also a regional thing. Down south (I know for a fact) people are color struck. Meaning they prefer a lighter or darker color black over another. My grandmother was like this, I'm dark skinned, and she hardly paid me any attention, But my lighter skinned cousin got most of the attention period. Southerners believed at one time that the lighter the skin and the straighter the hair the higher up you could go in business, relationships, and other stuff. The whole concept of dying my hair blonde is ridiculous in my book...some blacks JUST DON'T NEED IT!!! But I have dyed my hair fire red, my light skinned cousin is a blonde, and we both perm (relax) our hair straight. I don't believe her to be anymore white than when I see a white girl with cornrows to be black. It is what it is.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

1) Who is everyone? I doubt you have talked to everyone and I know I have not talked to you.

2) Black Albino - this is not a choice to be blonde, it is a genetic condition.

3) You have heard this everywhere and it is annoying..so you repeat it. Than makes no sense.

4) And what if people want to change their hair color...big whoop, it does not meant they want to be white..it means they want a change.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

why do whites want to be black-they perm their hair and get tans

how ridiculous

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

People like to vary the way they look. If I get a perm, it doesn't mean I am trying to be black, it just means I'd like to have curly hair for a while. Why put racial connotations where there are none?

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

I know, Me and my mom were born with straight and sliky hair.

WHy is everyone says blacks want to be white by straightening their hair? Or dying it blonde?

Why do you care so much what some people think? Honestly the people who get on black people's cases about "acting white" are typically black themselves.

I've never heard a white person talk about how black people should limited to a single hairstyle.

What is a good product to use before straightening your hair to protect against hair damage?

Pure Extra virgin olive oil, without additives. (EVOO) Proven for centuries. At your local grocery store, pure olive oil is a better deal. It's more affordable at the grocery store than the beauty supply store and is PURE. Great conditioner, protects well and tames frizz. Olive oil tames frizz better than some frizz ease products out there. You can mix essential oils with the olive oil so you won't smell like green food, lol. (Essential oils are mixed with olive oils offered at beauty supply stores, but they usually contain harmful dyes, fragrances and other chemicals.)

*Also consume omega fatty acids. Amino acids/proteins are excellent, too. Stay away from harmful chemicals in hair products.

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

or does it do just as much damage. i have curly hair so how would a straight perm work out?

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

my friend got a perm.

she said it was the biggest mistake of her life, shes 15.

dont get a perm.

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

I have straight hair so my answer might not be correct but think about it. If you apply like 430 degrees to your hair(my sister has curly hair and her straightning iron goes to 430) every day. thats gonna apply alot more damage than getting a perm once and having it last for at least a week!

閳?hope that helped

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

well it depends i get perms all the time nothing wrong with them to me but have to have someone who no what they are doing

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

perms cause a ton of damage to your hair and if you ask any hair stylist you're better off just straighting your hair everyday. But if you do decide to go with the perm straightining it does stay for a long time and it's less hassle to deal with everyday but it takes a toll on your hair. And remember that if you have curly hair you have the choice to wear it curly or straight so you have more diversity.

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

yeah but somtimes a straight perm doesnt work. i still had to use an iron every day.

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

Don't perm your hair!

Its a chemical, and it ruins your hair in the long run...

Plus, one day you just might want your hair curly again, and you wont be able to get it without cutting all your hair off and re-growing it, which sucks.... BELIEVE ME...

I have curly hair too, I just bought a new flat iron, its a Sedu.. it works GREAT, and it doesn't take that long to straighten my hair like it did before....

http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Revolution_d2...

(the price is worth it)

Good Luck!

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

Depends on hair type, how curly, length, thickness, current hair condition, chemical treatments currently on hair.........A salon starightening process although expense, generally $200 - $500 and up depending where you live is the way to go. Perms do not always work the same when trying to obtain straight hair that is already curly. Neither are good for your hair........But if you want to do it, go to a quality slaon and get a quality straightening process......it lasts much longer than a perm and does less damage than either perm or iron....Why straighten it every day...many people pay for curls, I am sure you are very pretty with the curls...why not alternate different hairstyles...full curls, straight, some curls, you can create so many different look instead of one basic....

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

Best to get a perm once in a while. The heat from the straightner eventually makes kinks in the hair which will lead to other problems later.

The best thing to do is to find a style that will utilize your curly hair and take advantage of what God gave you.

Is a straight perm better then straightening my hair every day?

When permanently straighting your hair, you're actually doing more damage to it. Why not straight your hair everyday? Use a ceramic iron and have a bottle of heat protector at hand.

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

I use sun silk Straighten up (purple) and a wet 2 straight (by Remington) flat iron. It works great!

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

A Chi iron. I love there shampoo %26amp; conditioner. Followed by there Silk Infusion right before straightening.

It's amazing! Makes my hair super smooth and it smells wonderful too! Followed by blow drying and flat iron, I highly recommend: http://www.folica.com/Solia_Tourmalin_d1...

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

Bumble and Bumble spray styling lotion (not too much!) and a good flat iron.

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

either a flat iron or a perm

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

I would have to say a Chi iron! There the best!

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

Pantene, it's effective!!

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

Conair Infiniti flat iron Loreal studio line hot straight heat activated straighting cream and Tresemme heat tamer styling spray

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

hi! you should put some frizz ease serum in your hair first before applying any sort of heat to it. that will cause you to not have frizzy dry hair.

good luck

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

a "true" ceramic iron. Not one of those that are under 20.00. A real good ceramic iron gonna cost you at least 50.00 or more.

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

Babyliss is the best gadget dear !!!

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

I totally prefer when my hairdresser uses the blow dryer to straighten it out. It's less damaging than anything else.

A ceramic flat iron is good as well but use a hair serum to protect it from the heat. I recommend a Paul Mitchell's hair serum.

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

I use Frizz Ease. I have really curly hair and they have a good straigntening serum that relaxes the curles and allows for better results. I apply it after I shower and when my hair is partially dry (still a little moist) I use the Maxiglide flat iron, ITS THE BEST!!

What is the best thing to use when straightening out your hair?

FLAT IRON

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

Have a look at the link below, this is the one I use and I love it.It's cheap enough and lasts a good while.Just don't over spray it as it will leave your hair greasy .You will know if you have over sprayed as you will see steam rising from your hair.Best to spray it and let it dry for a couple of minutes.

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

TIGI "S" Factor has a product for your hair. It's for flat ironing.

It works great and leaves your hair silky and shiny with no frizz.

LOVE IT! It costs about $28 but worth every penny.

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

Anything with ceramic plates...It is proven to protect the hair from heat damage, I use it on my hair and it is completely dyed, since you only have highlights it would be perfectly fine

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

Motions has a very good thermal heat protector spray and it smells really good. There is also one by biosilk, but there is definitely one in almost every line of products. DO NOT use oil sheen spray. Good luck and God bless!

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

I prefer to use a serum type protector;

attitude's "no more frizz" or fudge's "erekt" are both brill.

make sure you rub in hands first to 'heat it up'. apply from root to tips. Use a very small amount as it can be quite greasy.

you can get a thermal spray to use which has more of a hold to it but i find it can leave hair a little hard.

What Heat protector would be best to use on highlighted hair when straightening?

i straighten my hair every other day, i always give a good condition and i use what is called flat iron spray by wella it leaves your hair feeling soft shiny and looks fantastic. to get this product you would have to go Sally's or Adele's , or find a salon that uses wella products and they will go into more detail with you . i think its one of the best out there. hope you find something for you good luck

What product should i use before straightening my hair to make it extra silky?

i want my hair to be really smooth and silky so it moves. what is it called, is it a spray, oil, gel etc.

What product should i use before straightening my hair to make it extra silky?

Frizz Ease. I use it everyday.

What product should i use before straightening my hair to make it extra silky?

TiGi After the party smoothing creme, you can find it at trade secrets beauty express or salons. also, kiehls silk groom serum, at kiehls or kiehls.com. also, for reviews, go to makeupalley.com for hair product reviews and ratings.

What product should i use before straightening my hair to make it extra silky?

Try using BioSilk. It's a kind of oil that can be found at almost any beauty salon, but I found mine on sale in a WalMart. Its kind of expensive, but works like a charm. I typically use mine after straightening my hair, but you could probably also use it before. It runs about $25, but its well worth it!

What product should i use before straightening my hair to make it extra silky?

I would totally recommend Dove Weightless Moisturizer shampoo and conditioner. I honestly don't see why everyone doesn't use it!

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros & cons plz?

im thinkin abt gettin it done.. i have super thick curly hair and its a hassle to style %26amp; take care of

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

Ick! I have really curly, unruly hair. I got my hair permanantly straighted a few years ago and i wouldn't recomend it if you're looking for the kind of results i was. The lady doing it said that i wouldn't have to blowdry my hair or straighten it, and it would be beautiful and last quite a long time. NOT! The straightening solution left chemical burns on my scalp, and my hair was still curly and had split ends as well! The only plus was that it was less frizzy, and it was easier to manage. I have a great straightening iron though. Its called a remington wet to straight and it saves me an hour when i straighten my hair because you don't have to blowdry it. It made my hair look just like it was naturally straight! Its really wonderful. Hope i helped!

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

It helps if its real curly, but you will still have to flat iron it. Also it may damage your hair and make it frizzy.

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

i have a great straightener that i have used on my daughter and she hated her curly frizzy hair. it doesn't hurt your hair too much.

14 yr stylist

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

They there,

I've had it done 3x and it looks great, my hair was wavy and frizzy and now its super staight. You don't even need to blow dry your hair just wash it and then just dry it with your haidryer and your hands and it will look really great, well mine does anyway . There are no negative side that I have experienced I get it done once a year and it work great when the weather is humid and your hair goes bananas it stays like as though your hairdresser has just blow dried it for you. really worth it. Price would be between $400-600 depending on your hair type . Oh remember you go to a reallllllllly good salon. no corner shop stuff ok or they could say they know what they are doing and they don't(get my drift).

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

Pros:

-Easier to Deal With

-Less Bushy

Cons:

-Cant do much with it

-You can get old of it easily

I have natural straight hair and the only thing i have against it is that i cant do anything with it because i cant curl it or do different hairstyles

goodluck with your decision :)

Whats the whole deal on permanently straightening your hair?..pros %26amp; cons plz?

Hair straighteners are chemicals and anytime u use chemical straighteners u have to use moisturizing shampoos and conditioning treatments. But if you want to try and wear your natural curly hair, i suggest hair products by Matrix called Curl.Life. They bring out the curl really well

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

My hair is about an inch or two below my chin, it's got flyaways, and I have bangs that I sweep to the side. My hair is really curly, but in the front and top, its more frizzy and undefined. I need some products and a routine that I can use that won't consume too much time or money.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.

First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short

Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!

The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower

You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.

When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years

You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

try garnier fructis shampoo, conditioner and styling products (including gloss drops) for manageable hair without spending too much money!

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

Sunsilk De Frizz.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

The easiest thing for you would be mousse. Or hair gel. Whichever works better for your hair. Put the mousse in your hair before it dries and it will define your curls. It will also tame the frizz.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

What do I know? Ask a professional hairdresser. They know which products work for what type of hair.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

I would use, as a hairdresser, a product by TIGI. The Curls Rock line. All of it from Shampoo to hairspray. It all works great for curly, frizzy hair. When you get out of the shower use the leave in Moisturizer. That will help keep the moisture in. Then use the curl booster spray. After that use the curl amplifier. It's a cream, and that will help to define your curls. Also. After that flip your head upside down and scrunch from your ends to your roots. This will help the top to not be as "flat" and it will get the curls on top to be more defined. Afterwards, if you have a diffuser, use it while your head is flipped upside down. After you get done with that, use the hairspray and then use a shine spray. That will help to keep your hair looking shiny and healthy. This will only take about 5-10 minutes maximum in the morning. Also don't dry your hair all the way. It will cause it to be frizzier. If you need anymore help, please feel free to ask.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

First of all...find a really good shampoo and conditioner combo. They don't even have to be by the same company. You will have to try some out. Tresemme always makes awesome conditioners. Try the remoisturize formula. As for shampoo...you have to kind of shop around. It is also great to mix it up a bit (don't always use the same brands more than two to three months. Try other brands of shampoos (the hair sort of goes, "Awe...I see...she's using the same ole, same ole...it is usually down hill from there. You can go back to your favorites once and a while, but do "trick" your hair or it becomes immune. Sounds crazy, but it is true. That is why they call it Trickology [I'm not quite sure how they spell that]). Leaving some of the conditioner in your hair also keeps it a lot softer. Don't keep all of it in. Rinse some of it out, or your hair will feel stiffer than desired. Overall, lots of vitamin rich shampoos and conditioners with lots of moisturizers work best. Beware of some shampoos which claim to give you awesome results...these so-called shampoos only dry your hair more. You have to try some out for yourself. Not all hair types are the same. What works for me, may not work as well for you, so shop around a bit.

Using greasy hair dressing is also unfavorable. It coats the outside, but locks out vital vitamins from penetrating the inside. The result is dry damaged hair. I could go on and on on this subject, but I really need to be going. Drop me a line sometimes and I will fill you in on some things that have really proven favorable to me.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

To cut frizz you need a frizz serum such as John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum. I would also reccomend the straightening shampoo and conditioner by Paul Mitchell.

Frizzy, browm, curly hair, how to tame without straightening?

I have naturally curly hair as well, and it took me forever to figure this out. here's what you do.

Go to a salon and get TIGI's Curls Rock Curl Amplifier.

Then go to CVS /a drugstore, and get Frizz Ease serum Extreme (in the purple bottle) and Sunsilk's Anti Poof Shampoo and Conditions and Sunsilks 24/7 Cream for both Anti-Poof and Defrizz (blue and green bottles.). Also, you can get hot oil, Alberto VO5 moisturizing and do this once a week for shinier hair.

Before entering the shower, heat up water in a microwave for 2 minutes, or until boiling. Then drop one of the hot oils in the boiling water. Leave it in there for about 2 minutes. Enter the shower and wet your hair. Open the hot oil and comb it through your hair. Leave in for one minute, then rinse out. Shampoo your hair, and rinse. Then comb about two quarter sized amounts of the conditioner into your hair, and leave in for about 4 to 5 minutes to moisturize. Then rinse the conditioner out with COLD water, which seals the cuticle of you hair, resulting in shine. After rinsing, turn the shower off, and squeeze your hair dry. Don't towel dry, cause it will cause excess frizz. Pump about 2 quarter sized amounts of Frizz Ease into your hand and comb it in from root to tip. Make sure you get to the back. Squeeze the water from your hair again. Fill your hand with equal parts of each type of Sunsilk, and comb it through your hair once again, focusing on the areas that tend to poof or frizz the most. Squeeze the excess water from your hair once again. Next, pump three squirts of Curls Rock Amplifier into your hand, and scrunch in throughout your hair. Once done, let your hair airdry. You can stick a towel between your hair and your clothes to prevent your clothes from getting wet. Never towel dry though. As it dries, if you find your hair frizzing, then use sunsilk defrizz to correct this. Try not to lie down during the drying, because it might squash the curls. You should have shiny frizz free curls once finished. If you want added spirals, get Redken Ringlet Cream and Garnier Fructis Hard Curl Pomade and a curling iron to add the spirals, but I find that my hair turns out great without an iron.

I guarantee this works for me. If you want something to straighten your hair, get Redkin Smooth Down Line. It works great. Hai irons work great, and I found one for $50 on ebay for you.

Why doesnt my hair straighten?

hiya guys!

i've been straightening my hair for the past few days.. my straightener is awesome at making my hair straight but but but.. sometimes it straightens outwards.. especially the outer front parts of my hair.. it sorta curves outwards, sorta like whiskers?? and when i straighten it, it sticks OUT instead of straightening down and it stays like that they whole day and looks quite... wierd..

any way to fix this?? thans!!

Why doesnt my hair straighten?

maybe a perm

Why doesnt my hair straighten?

maybe you arnt using the straightener the right way when you use it just go straight down and not on a curve

good luck :D

Why doesnt my hair straighten?

it sounds like you have static, do you put a protector on your hair before drying and straightening? when you straighten try to curl under when your about to reach the ends, maybe that may make a difference

Why doesnt my hair straighten?

If you wanted to get dead straight hair... grow out your layers so your hair is all even. Even then, you most probably wont have to straighten your hair.. well, depending upon the type of your hair..

Maybe a perm...

What is the best hair protectant for flat iron straightening? My daughter is 1/2 black, 1/2 white.?

She has fairly coarse, very curly, unruly hair.

I do not want a heat protectant that is oily, as it makes her hair look dirty and weighs her hair down.

HELP

What is the best hair protectant for flat iron straightening? My daughter is 1/2 black, 1/2 white.?

hey, my hair is very coarse thick, and curly. i use some spray on detangler. it works like a charm.

What is the best hair protectant for flat iron straightening? My daughter is 1/2 black, 1/2 white.?

Proper conditioning after the shampoo is the first line of defense, the second is leave in conditioner. You will also want to find a stylist familiar with her hair type, she can put her on a deep conditioning regimen in the salon. Depending on how often you flat iron it, you will want to make sure you get it trimmed more often.

Depending on her age, you may want to consider adding a light oil to her natural hair, letting it air dry in 4-5 large plaits, afterwards simply blow dry it out with a comb attachment.

In a few weeks, you will notice that coarse, very curly, unruly hair can be tamed very easily with any type of heat. The younger she is, the less she will care about her hair (unless you put it on her mind). Save all of the work for a time when it counts for her self esteem.

Just remember your level of experience and any type of heat means better professional products and more trips to the salon for professional care. Kudos for not letting your child look all wild about the head like the majority of biracial kids.

What is the best hair protectant for flat iron straightening? My daughter is 1/2 black, 1/2 white.?

I like Umberto leave-in conditioner - you can find it at Target.

What Chi products can I use to prep my hair before straightening?

shampoo, conditioner (any as long as they moisturize) then the name of the stuff you put on to prevent damage, and the finishing product.

What Chi products can I use to prep my hair before straightening?

I use chi products on my hair when I flat iron...the chi 44 iron guard is great to prevent heat damage and smells good, then post straightening I apply a little chi silk infusion because my hair is corse and it makes it really soft and flowing....I get them @ folica.com online but salons carry it too:)

What Chi products can I use to prep my hair before straightening?

I use Bed Head Control Freak shampoo and conditioner for my hair cuz I straighten it a lot and I love it.I also use Bed Head After Party cream when my hair is still wet to prevent damage and make my hair look shiny. If ur hair is naturally pretty oily, then just use the shampoo ans conditioner cuz they work wonders by themselves.

Straightening Balm on african american hair?

does straightening balm work on african american hair? will it make my thick coarse hair go back to being straight after washing it (with a relaxer in it)? After the 2nd week of having a relaxer and washing my hair it ends up being very thick and dry looking, it feels like bristle instead of soft. Does straightening blam give this effect?

Straightening Balm on african american hair?

No, it doesn't work but just try to straighten it with a hair straightner, and maybe braid it before you go to bed to help your hair become stronger and softer

Straightening Balm on african american hair?

Don't use that. Your hair is dry bc you need moisture in it. Try B%26amp;B moisturizer and S-Curl. I use S-Curl and I'm in LOVE with it. It keeps my hair moisturized and soft. Because we are more prone breakage we need a lot of moisture for the hair. Try to straighten hair once a week. No more than that.

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

I want to make my hair straight, but with the minimal amount of damage

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

If you buy a heat activaed shampoo conditoner and spray, it won't damage your hair. Straighten it only. Also don't straighten hair while wet, it will damage your hair so badly.

Deep condition once a week to restore moisture.

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

if you are going to straighten your hair DO NOT also blow dry it... it will make more damage doing both

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

i think straightening hair is really worse then blowdrying...I wouldn't recommend straightening your hair...it damages your hair strength.I blowdry my hair though...

hope this helps

alana:)

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

straightening your hair with a flat iron will definately give you a great look but it will TOTALLY fry your hair, blowdrying does minimal damage and you look great afterword.

Loves,

Lin

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

They are both pretty damaging yet I think that straightening is worse but yet more affective. Straightening can burn your ends pretty badly. Blowdrying can cause hair breakage. So I think you should go with blowdrying if you want a less damaging effect. Yet go with straightening if you want your hair to last a little longer/ look nicer, but face the consequences.

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

Both are a form of chemicals to your hair even though they aren't chemicals. you should first dry your hair in larger curlers under a hood dryer and make sure it is completely dry then straighten it. I don't know why this works but that's what my stylist does and I haven't had breakage in two years. I use to have breakage all the time.

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

iron. but i mean its safe i guess if u dont do both everyday just choose one

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

Both are bad....but why don't you just let your hair dry naturally, combing it straight every 2 hours or so. Then straighten your hair. I do it and it totally works. Its like I get the blow drying effect without all the damage.

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

Bloe drying is more damaging, try sitting under a dryer with rollers and then flat ironing but when ever you use heat you should use a leave in conditioner and a heat protector, and your flat iron should be ceramic. i use the prosilk digital ceramic flat iron along with the prosilk silk Serum

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

Ive heard that blowdrying is not bad but if youre going to straighten it, dont straighten it over and over again because it can ruin your hair :P

What is worse? Blowdrying or straightening your hair?

i think straightening is worse. i suggest you let your hair air dry for a while then comb it out with a large tooth comb and then hood dryer. if needed you can either blow dry or straighten it but just choose one. i suggest going to a hairdresser and letting them do your hair. pay attention to what they do and then keep doing it at home

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

Is it obvious when someone who has curly hair straightens it and leaves it like that for about a week?

It feels embarrassing, because most people know that you didn't wash your hair in a long time.

I'm really bad at straightening hair myself, so it feels like a waste of money and time to go to a hair stylist for it all and then wash it soon after.

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

If most women were to be honest they feel the same way. I have SUPER curly hair and used to go to the salon every week to have to done, until I learned how to do it well at home. (Thanks to my stylist) When I do it now, I will skip washing my hair for 3-5 days, depending how well it stays straight (due to weather, sweat ect.). Before I started straighting my hair, I oly washed it abot every three days anyways because it would get so dry if I did it every day. My stylist told me that it was ok for people with curly/frizzy or think hair because washing every day can dry your hair out and cause severe split ends! So keep on doing your thing and don't wash every day, just know you are not alone!..*lol*

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

I wash and starighten my hair daily .. it took me a couple trys to be able to straighten my hair well on my own but now its simple

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

You'll learn. [:

Straighten my hair, too. It does end up being quite a task, but you've got to learn to cope with it!

Experiment in your spare time.

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

you probly thing you r bad a straightening because you haven't found the right staightener is all and it's not a waste if you know how to keep it clean

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

Just keep your hair fresh. Try sprinkling some baby powder in your hair in the morning and combing it through. That will help absorb some of the oils your hair produces. I don't know if you'd want to wait a week before washing your hair, it will get pretty gross, but a few days would be fine.

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

i have curly hair and i straighten it everyday and wash it every other day

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

Ugh. I can't imagine going a week without washing my hair. It's probably obvious to other people that your hair is greasy and dirty :/ Try a different kind of straightener. The Remington Wet2Straight is actually a really good straightener for the price -- $30 at Walmart or Target. It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to straighten your hair but after a while it'll be a breeze. Just do small sections at a time, go over them very slowly with the straightener and keep going over it until it's perfectly straight. Just make sure you condition your hair -- and consider buying a leave in conditioner or deep conditioning treatment, because heat damage is terrible for your hair.

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

I don't leave it a week. Usually a couple of days if I haven't been too active. However I have been known to straighten it every day but I do so myself. What you need is to learn to do it yourself. It just takes practice. I use a styling dryer to dry it straight - this keeps me from having to use a regular dryer in one hand and a brush in the other. Then, once it's dry, I'll either use a flat iron and some biosilk serum or a two and a half inch barrel iron to give it body instead of flat. You also have to use an anti-humidity product. KMS has an excellent spray (it's in a small can, white and purple) to prevent it frizzing up. Good luck!

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

I ALSO HAVE CURLY HAIR...HOW ABOUT USING A CURLING IRON TO STRAIGHTEND UR HAIR...IT WORKS REALLY GOOD.THERES THIS PRODUCT @ WALMART IT CALLED TIMELESS ITS LIKE A RELAXINT...EXEPT IT DOESNT DAMAGE UR HAIR LIKE A RELAXINT...YOU WASH YOU HAIR AND THE PRODUCT ON UR HAIR AND YOJU STRAIGHTEN UR HAND THEN YOU HAVE TO KEEP UR HAIR DRY FOR A WHOLE DAY...THEN YOU CAN WASH UR HAIR AND IT WOULD KEEP UR HAIR STRAIGHT FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 WEEKS.

good luck hope you find what you need

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

well i blow dry my moms hair becoz she has curly hair so yea like twice a week or 3 times depends!

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

If your hair looks clean...dont worry about it..people will just think you straighten it daily. I love my hair after it has been staightened. its not good to wash hair to frequently anyway unless you have oily hair...I have dry hair and wash it twice a week...just use a shoer cap when u shower so you dont get it wet.

Leaving straightened hair for a few days?

No if i spend a lot of time getting my hair perfectly straight i wont wash it the next day but some tips on doing it yourself are

first get a good iron..one with ceramic plates rather then just metal plates

second..spend some time in the hair product section of walgreens..look for something that is for straightening hair or you can ask someone at a salon which product will be best for your hair

third..when it comes time to the actual straightening of your hair..part your hair..my hair is really really thick so i put a bunch of like 4 inch ponytails in my hair and i start in the back for the straightening

fourth..doing one section at a time..take about an inch or an inch and a half..comb it and slowly run your straightener thru your hair...repeat until its all straightened

try not to brush it afterwards cuz it can frizz it..but put run your fingers thru your hair ..put on some of the hair product and you should have nicely straight hair

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

My friend has curly hair. She doesn't shampoo it....she just uses conditioner. It stays clean...and shampoo just dries it out. Her hair looks a lot better since she stopped using shampoo.

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

The bests way to have great hair withought stight you take a shower and you put mose in and bame it is the best and i have curly hair too that is why i know ...... i hope you get the anser you what ..................and some day it will .............good luck !

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

I use Biolage curl defining creme and nothing else. (well, I wash and condition it) I don't even touch my hair with a blow dryer! Just letting it dry naturally keeps it from frizzing out. If I do need to dry it a bit I use a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment.

Also, if you're going to comb it out at all after washing, use a wide tooth comb or a pick. Brushes are bad for curly hair.

Hope this helps! :)

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

I have the most curly hair {natural) just like yours and it seems like u like it that way..... my hair stylist had recomended me to redken hair product which is sooooooo good for our hair it is a little on the pricey side but it really works. Once u start using the shampoo and conditioner u will see it will bw more relaxed and less frizzy and have the beautiful shiny curls... mine are like that now ...I used to hate my curly hair and always straighten it out but now my hair is healthy and I can leave it down more often...

the shampoo and conditioner I use are the shea and cocoa butter redken brand it is bronze in color (the bottle..) hope this helps

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

Well, if you just want it to be wavy instead of really curly...use a good conditioner and shampoo......and set your hair. I do it all of the time to get out the kinks at least. Or, just wear it natural and use "pumping curls" by studio...works great for me.

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

You are going to flip when you see my answer. My daughter has curly hair that is constantly messy. You can spray static guard on your brush or comb (not on hair) and even the most beastly of hair will be tamed. I use it for my thin, fine hair to keep the static out.

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

a cap and a pony tail.

What is the best way to manage naturally curly hair (without straightening it?)?

Get a good cut that layers your hair. You can shampoo it in the shower, comb through, and let it air dry. (Fluff it up occasionally during the dry.)

What are some great tips to straightening my hair and keeping it straight?

I have a Revlon Ceramic Straightner it works really well, but a couple hours after straighening my hair the ends start to get wavy or "flip out", if you know what I mean. So I would really appriciate it if someone could give me tips to keep my hair straight throughout the day.

What are some great tips to straightening my hair and keeping it straight?

Take a shower and wash hair. When you get out of the shower brush your hair straight and apply a nickle size amount of the gel to your hair. When applying, make sure you use wide fingers and try to focus more on the ends. Wrap your hair in the towel until your hair is damp. Brush again. You will want to part your hair in to sections. Take each section and wrap it around the round brush and blow dry with the nozzel pointed down towards the floor. Pull the brush with the blow dryer so that they are both on the same section of hair. Continue with the remaining hair in sections. Once all of your hair is dry, it will still be a bit frizzy or poofy.

You will need to part your hair back into sections. Run the flat iron over each section of hair until all the creases have been ironed out. Remeber to add a little curl to the ends by straightening in a rounded motion from the scalp. Once you have straightened all of your hair, add a little shine serum and you are ready to go!!

What are some great tips to straightening my hair and keeping it straight?

Try using cool air to set it (many hair dryers have a setting for cool air instead of warm air). When your hair is hot, it can be altered, which is why hair straighteners and curlers and crimpers work the way they do. When your hair is still warm, it's more susceptible to changes, so if you cool it off, it shouldn't change as easily.

What are some great tips to straightening my hair and keeping it straight?

before i completely thrashed my hair with scissors and bleach, i had long curly purple hair. i hated it curly..i had to soak it..and blow dry it while brushing it flat...then after it was dry i had to pin up every strand except for the bottom layer and straighten layer by layer. repeat until perfectly straight...also try a relaxer..you can buy one at a drug store i think. i got mine at a salon and it worked..hope you have good straight hair soon.

goood luck :]

What are some great tips to straightening my hair and keeping it straight?

I am bi-racial (white and black) and I have naturally curly hair. Even with a relaxer, my hair would revert...especially when my hair got wet or I sweated too much. Two years ago I paid $100 for a Corioliss Ceramic Flat Iron. I have not relaxed my hair since, and I don't have to blow dry the heck out of it to get it straight. I can go from air dried frizzy afro to perfectly straight with this flat iron.

I use Davine's MOMO/Fluid in my hair after washing/conditioning and let my hair air dry. Make sure your hair is completely dry, then flat iron in small sections...the smaller the better....I usually do this on a Sunday when I have the extra time to give my hair a GOOD straightening.

The other thing that might help is a good haircut. My stylist, who just happens to be white (if that matters at all) has given me an AWESOME cut and "might" touch up my ends every six weeks or so. I wash my hair once a week, but use the flat iron daily....no split ends or damage. She did have me try a thermal protectant....it works, but it builds up too quick so I have to wash more often, which, with my hair texture and coloring, doesn't really work for me.

I bought my iron at a kiosk in the all....I've seen it on e-bay, and I believe they have a website.

Hope this helps!

Are there side affects to chemically straightening your hair and what are they?

i am thinking of getting my hair straigtened can you tell me if and how it damages your hair?

Are there side affects to chemically straightening your hair and what are they?

Well if done right, what we call Japanese Hair Straightening shouldn't damage your hair at all, but as always, depends on who is doing your hair.

I should add that Japanese Hair Straightening does not work well on very coarse African hair or Asian Hair, and it can be an expensive procedure.

Does that heat protector stuff really protect your hair from straightening it?

Yes it does.

Does that heat protector stuff really protect your hair from straightening it?

it dont stop you from getting split ends

Does that heat protector stuff really protect your hair from straightening it?

Yes. when you spray a thermal protectant on your hair (typically section by section to make sure you cover every hair strand), and then flat iron it the product is burnt off...without anything on there to protect your hair, you are scorching your hair strand and PROMOTING split ends and dehydration. Hope this helped :) check out my website www.adorablestylist.com

Does that heat protector stuff really protect your hair from straightening it?

yes-the product creates a barrier between your hair and the iron. It doesn't save it from everything so be sure your using it properly, and not too excessive, and also starting out with some great professional shampoo and conditioner will help to keep your hair in good condition!

What is the best way to press african-american hair. What are the best straightening products for bl

I have had relaxers in the past and somehow or another my hair ends up overprocessed. I've complained several times, with no results. Now I want to start pressing my hair instead of getting locks.

What is the best way to press african-american hair. What are the best straightening products for black hair.

Hot combing it works really well. You'll have to touch it up maybe once or twice a week, but I think Hot Combs are the best way.

You can also get a ceramic hair straightnening iron. Not as smooth as a hot comb, but you just plug it in and use it like a curling iron. Conair makes a good one.

But why are locks your only alternative. You can be natural and not have locks. I like to wash my hair and leave conditioner in you hair. It makes you hair really soft, and you can have a tame natural look.

get it chemically relaxed at a salon and then get a small 1/2 inch ceramic straitener for straitening every day

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo t

Is there a shampoo that protects my hair and prevents damage?

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

yeah there are lots of shampoos and conditioners that help protect your hair. =]

although i would worry most about the protectent used right before styling. (anything that is applied to wet hair is usually not strong enough to take a flat iron but is more for protection against your hair dryer.)

some good shampoo lines that protect your hair include: the chi line, therma-silk, and the alterna white truffle line.

i would worry more (with shampoo and condit.) about healthy hair, try a shampoo that "rebuilds" your hair, that way its harder to break.

redkens "extreme" and paul mitchelles "super strong" lines are really good at rebuilding your hair, so they can take the heat. their kind of pricey but your hair will show a major difference.

weekly deep conditoning also helps alot.

----

while hair is wet

comb it with a wide tooth comb

blot with a towel til its damp

apply some "chi silk infusion" (this can be applied to wet or dry hair, this is the BEST protector it also helps rebuild hair.)

before flat ironing

make sure your hair is completely dry.

flat iron small sections slowly.

try not to go over a section more than twice.

then apply a small amount of the chi silk infusion to the ends to seal them.

also take your vitamins! this really helps your hair.

good luck =]

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

Ask a cosmetologist.

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

ummm i think they all say they do but i dont think they really do. I just use sunsilk heat therapy shampoo used to be the old thermasilk...i think it is ok.

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

There is some new shampoo from Herbal Essensce called Break's Over that is designed especially for split ends and breakage. Also, you should consider getting a hair product that protects your hair from the heat. I don't recomend straightening every single day. No amount of product can heal the damage you can do within a month's time. Your hair will feel like straw and look dull and frizzy. Trust me, I've done this before. I just do mine like two-three times a week or even less then that.

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

Sunsilk is good, but the truth is that whatever you're doing to prevent it, straightening your hair is killing it. If you absolutely insist on doing it, you can refrain from washing it every night (every other night works if your hair isn't excessively oily) or try straightening just the strands on the sides. That works with hyper-curly hair because the only place it usually looks off is around the face.

Also, don't use Shampoos with strong cleaning agents... like Herbal Essences. They're horrible. The second ingredient is usually something like Sodium/Ammonium Laryl/Laureth Sulfate. If it starts with Ammonium it's bad. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is teh least damaging, used in brands like Dove (I think) and Garnier Fructis (the greatest).

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

I think protected hair starts from the very beginning of the styling process. What you want to do is look for a conditioner that protects as well as a shampoo. Try ones specifically for heat styling, like Sunsilk ThermaShine or ThermaSilk. If you wanna spend a little more cash on a great product, try CHI products.

Aside from that, I also deep condition with a hair mask of some sort, at least once a week (more if I know I'm gonna be bad to it!). It only takes 3-5 minutes in the shower. I recommend Aussie's 3-minute miracle, Garnier's stuff, and, honestly, I haven't had a bad experience with any.

I also use a leave in conditioner, like Infusium 23 (which practically reversed my hair problems before), and right now I'm using one by Herbal Essences.

Make sure you use thermal styling products, like a silicone based product or straightening styling cream before ironing your hair, as this provides immediate protection.

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

Okay first off you need to use some leave in conditioner when your hair is wet which first protects it from the blowdryer and also locks in moisture to your strands to seal it with the heat. I like John Freida frizz ease miracle ___something it is a leave in balm that you can buy at walmart. Another good one is biosilk you have to buy it at a salon but it is amazing. Then you will also need to get a flat iron spray which protects your hair from the heat of the flat iron you can only get the good ones at a salon or somewhere that sells salon products. THere are a few good ones by chi, matrix, bedhead and S factor.........they are all called flat iron spray. Also get a good trim and get the dead stuff cut off there is noo way to repair split ends but to cut them off!

I want to continue straightening my hair , but i don't want any split ends is there a shampoo that protects ?

I think you need to keeping giving your hair its strength back to prevent damage from straightening your hair. I had severe damage to my hair from over-prcoessing it and short from pulling a Brittany and shaving everything, my girlfriend recommended www.biolustreflorida.com products. It repairs each and every hair strand, its amamzing. Ever since that day, 4 years ago, I purchase a kit every montha dn give myself a treatment the day before I color my hair and the 3-4 days after, so I have no damage from the chemicals of coloring and highlighting every 3 weeks. Good Luck
