The answer may come as a shock, but trimming regularly (approximately 6-8 weeks between cuts) is a must for straight hair. Going to a salon to ask for an inch or half an inch off isn't as drastic as cutting a lot off in the end if you do not cut the split ends. And also, your hair will be a lot more manageable once you cut off the split ends.

Do you ever notice that your hair is a lot more able to curl or style after you cut the split ends? That's because the follicles in your hair at the ends are dead and they cannot be styled because the hair is no longer at its vibrancy.

A way to prevent split ends is to do the following:

1. Don't use hot products, like a blow-dryer or flat iron. It causes the hair to break and snap, causing split ends.

2. Don't brush a lot, as the friction causes split ends to appear, and makes your hair frizzy without all of the broken ends.

3. Trim your hair regularly at a salon you trust; get the split ends trimmed off, depending on how much, in 1 inch or less. You will notice a severe difference afterwards with silky hair that is manageable.

4. Stop straightening your hair. Or just do it once a week.

Know this: There is NO way to prevent split ends, but there IS a way to make them less manageable.

Try deep conditioning your hair once a week to manage the appearance of split ends inbetween cuts, but know that it will not cause them to go away without trimming.

Hope this helps. :)

TRIM!

Trim your hair regularly and brush it softly and carefully!

Everyone gets split ends, but make sure you trim atleast every month!

And use a ceramic straightener if you don't already.

Also, when you shower, condition the ends of your hair, and never your scalp. Your scalp is the part that gets all the natural conditioning oils of your hair anyway and the ends are the ones who need attention!
